Summer Booze News!
Hey there boozefans, I hope everyone enjoyed a fun and safe 4th of July. I was here helping all of the non-regulars find better booze. I am here to welcome any new customer with my advice on how they are doing it wrong, the moment they walk in the door. You see folks, I am a curmudgeon. When I was five my mom nicknamed me her “65 year old man” which makes me 101 years old now (pretty good looking for a 101!). No is a reflex for me, I was raised to say no to anyone and everything. When I moved to Japan, I decided to switch philosophies and start saying yes! It worked out very well for me, as I got to try all of these new things, meet all of these new people, and was generally regarded as an easy going individual (fooled them all!). Now many years later, no is still my best friend. No travels with me wherever I go, and is always by my side in case of any question that might occur. However, I have not totally disregarded the lessons I learned in Japan. I try to say yes more often now (no less than four times a year :)). I have found that when I say yes it tends to pay off a lot more often. When I say no, I get the result that I expected, which is nothing, and while I do adore nothing and I mean I adore it! Nothing, is sexy and tempting, but it is just that, nothing. Re-reading about how Will Clark, read Greg Madux’s lips during the 1989 Cubs-Giants playoff game is not in ANY way helpful. Ignoring friends and family in order to binge watch Bob’s Burgers is fine from time to time, but participating in your own life and others is important. Let me be clear, participating does not include bringing your no to everyone else. This is something that I need reminding of from time to time because like I said my no travels! When you play monopoly you have to follow the House rules, (200 bucks when you land on free parking? Insanity!) and when you are out and about you cannot expect the universe to bend to your own personal quirks and ticks. When I show up somewhere, I do not bring the strangest beer I can find and the smokiest Mezcal available. I bring items that are fun and a little adventurous, my goal is to add enjoyment not force my taste on to others, (that is what work is for!). The point of all of this rambling besides the obvious (always say yes to Keith) is that throughout the week there are always a couple of moments when you say no, but you considered saying yes, I am advocating switching a few no’s to yes. If you say yes ALL the time then this not for you, and you should seriously considering saying no from time to time.
TASTINGS: BLIND WINE TASTING FRIDAY 4:00-6:00
Martha has come up with a “blind tasting”. What this means is that you will not know what you are tasting when it is poured. This will free you from all of your pre-conceived notions on what you like and do not like, and free to like what you ACTUALLY enjoy! This will also help you fully explore a wine. It is a wonderful idea that we should all do more often.
BEER FRIDAY 4:00-6:00 ALPINE BREWING
An excellent California brewery. If it feels like there is a new brewery every minute that is because there is! This one was actually born in 1999, which is now kind of old for an American Brewery.

KEITH’S CABINET: What Keith is drinking now.
PLUM PISCO: I brought in a Peruvian plum brandy, and guess what, it is delicious! We made Plum sours with it, and also drank it straight. I am sure it can used in many cooking recipes as well. Fun stuff.
HIGH WEST YIPPEE KI-YAY: A customer brought me a bottle of this all the way from Utah! It is aged in sweet vermouth and syrah barrels, and it is splendid! Another winner from High West and more proof that you guys are the best customers.
I was also given a delicious bourbon from Indiana that unfortunately is not available, but still want to show my thanks for the sharing of it. It made an excellent companion to the High West!
FREEMARK ABBEY CABERNET: A happy return to one of my favorite wineries. This is Napa Cabernet at its big chewy best!
GREAT DIVDE TITAN: I continue to be a fan and be impressed by Great Divide, and enjoyed this big, but well balanced IPA.
GEORGE BOTANIVORE: I couldn’t help but re-purchase this amazing gin.
PILAR RUM BLONDE: Still really enjoying my little vanilla cocktail with this beauty.
RON CARTAVIO BLACK: This makes a wonderful Dark and Stormy.
COOPERS’ CRAFT: An affordable and tasty new bourbon. Light and easy drinking, perfect for the summer.
FRIS COOL PINEAPPLE: A new pineapple vodka just in time for the summer.
INTIPALKA PISCO: It was much requested and needed to add some higher end Peruvian Pisco and I am happy to have these tasty additions!
LINIE AQUAVIT: It is back! I never gave up! Norwegians rejoice!
PISCO SOUR: A lovely and refreshing summer drink!
