Why Does Vodka Never Freeze?

A great host always has a bottle of vodka tucked neatly somewhere in their freezer for guests. But have you ever wondered why people choose to keep their vodka in the freezer?
Vodka’s origins date back centuries in Poland and Russia, two places where you would think folks would be inclined to want to drink something warm, but vodka has been a favorite here in the U.S. since the 1950’s. With its light flavor and perfect mixing qualities, vodka is one of the most popular spirits.
But why doesn’t it freeze? Vodka has enough alcohol to lower the freezing point of water, so it won’t freeze once your icebox hits 32 degrees. Vodka will freeze at much lower temperatures, but it all depends on the alcohol content.
Little known fact- several other kinds of liquor such a gin, run and tequila also can be kept in the freezer! So don’t let ice cubes melt the tastes of your favorite spirits, keep them in the freezer for when the good times are ready to roll.

1. Grab your vodka, metal shaker and your frozen martini glass out of the freezer and your vermouth from the fridge
2. Fill your shaker with ice and add 2-3 drops of vermouth
3. Add 3 shots of vodka
4. Shake like you have never shaken before
5. Fill glass with liquid, drained away from ice
6. Two olives on a toothpick complete your drink
