We Will Now Be Closed on Sundays
South Carolina State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) has advised us that complaints by the Lancaster County Council initiated the Department of Revenue to address the previous interpretation of a law that was passed allowing Sunday sales of beer and wine by businesses that had on-premise beer and wine licenses. The DOR has decided that in Lancaster County the Sunday sales of beer and wine to go is no longer allowed and must stop immediately. The parties that have caused this action have hurt Lancaster County by causing jobs to be lost and County revenue to be reduced by thousands of dollars annually. Surrounding counties will benefit because they can sell beer and wine on Sunday. The DOR has advised Southern Spirits the referendum that was passed in Lancaster County was not like the ones passed in surrounding counties, therefore, Lancaster County will have to pass another referendum if the county wants beer and wine sales for off premise consumption on Sunday. Effective immediately, the DOR has advised the only legal sales of beer and wine in Lancaster County on Sundays are those at businesses where the beer or wine is consumed at the location it is purchased. Lancaster County residents will be able to buy beer and wine to go on Sunday at surrounding counties. It is truly unfortunate for Lancaster County to lose the jobs and revenue it has been enjoying from those sales.
