Southern Spirits Has the Best Beer Wine and Liquor for You!
Hey booze fans, “I just checked in to see what condition my condition was in”. Extra points if you recognize the song lyric, hint, it is from my favorite movie! I was sitting in NODA, last Tuesday and I heard a young man bemoaning the fact that he couldn’t find this spirit “even Frugal’s doesn’t have it!”. I had to restrain myself from saying “well I do! I have it all young man, you can find it all at Southern Spirits! Now you go out there, you go out there and tell the world!!!”. However, I just finished my pork belly sliders, drank my Jam Session, and decided that assaulting people while they were eating was too much, even for me. So we shall quietly remain the best kept secret in South Carolina, for now. Years from now when EVERYONE is shopping here, saying “you simply must go to Southern Spirits, that place is where it’s at”. You can laugh and say that you were there. You were there when it all happened. You remember Keith, before the pony tail, the spray tan, and the liposuction. When you could just walk up to him and he remembered what he sold you last week or even six months ago! You guys are all apart of something special. You might think I am crazy, and you are probably right, but I am not wrong, no I am definitely not wrong.
TASTINGS: FRIDAY WINE 4:00-6:00
CESANI VERNACCIA: Dry and crisp, this Tuscan white is another excellent summer wine for people that prefer clean and dry whites.
TRAVAGLINI GATTINARA: The tasty wine in the funny shaped bottle. The Nebbiolo grape is one of the many grapes that gets ignored by people despite the fact that it produces wonderful wines!
CHIANTI CLASSICO: The most famous and consumed Italian red in the U.S. Well there is a reason it is so famous! Now, of course there are literally hundreds of awful finger-nail polish smelling, mass produced Chianti’s that give the wine a bad name but when you try a good one you remember why you fell in love it in the first place.
BARBERA D’ALBA PUNTA: Barbera is another oft ignored Italian varietal. However, this juicy little wine is perfect for any pasta dish, as it is juicy and has the acidity to cut through your red or white sauce.
Dark horse brewing. These guys are from Michigan and their slogan is “we make bad ass beer”. From the marketing team that brought you “yeah well, so is your face.”
SATURDAY ST. GEORGE 3:30-6:30
We welcome back the lovely and talented Lindy Colburn, the ambassador for one of the best distilleries in the known Universe. They were craft before it was cool and still are! They continue to produce world class spirits in a wide range of categories.
We will be making Negronis! Never tried this refreshingly bitter Italian cocktail? Well Saturday is the day!
KEITH’S CABINET: What Keith is drinking now
High West Yippe Ki Yay: I just love this whiskey, a little before bed makes it a great end to the day no matter what happened.
RON CARTAVIO XO: One of the best rums in the entire store. It is not cheap but you can taste the money.
BLACKWOOD GIN: So I took home this new Scottish gin and I enjoyed it quite a bit. I enjoyed it neat, and I loved it with Tonic.
MORTLACH RARE OLD: I have been waiting for this Scotch for quite some time. My favorite critic Christopher Null, went gaga for it, and he doesn’t go gaga for much! Mortlach produces some of the best Scotch in the world and this is one of their best!
St. George Bruto Americano: Look out Campari, the folks at St. George have made their own version!
CHOKAISAN SAKE: This is some top shelf Sake, because we actually did not have any high end Sake and I thought lets add a delicious one.
KUROSAWA RESERVE: Speaking of high end Sake, this is literally the BEST Sake I have ever had. It was magnificent and my friends and I had a lovely time drinking it. This Sake is so smooth but with lots of subtle and nuanced flavors that really take the experience to a higher level.
BELLE MEADE SINGLE BARREL: Never tried Belle Meade? Well that is a mistake that needs to be corrected. They make wonderful whiskey and this is one of their limited releases. Here today and probably gone today too!
MEZCALERO SPECIAL BOTTLING #1: One of only 756 bottles of this special aged mezcal from one of the premier mescal distilleries.

Keith’s must try cure for the summer drink!

Muddle the cucumber and the lemon wedge in your pint glass.
Add the Pimms cup and ginger ale, and stir it up. Then fill the glass with ice.
