Southern Spirits Has The Best Beer, Wine and Liquor for Autumn!
Hey there boozefans, what a wild start to the NFL season! Jack Del Rio going for two for the win, young Qb’s notching first wins, and John Fox demonstrating why he is John Fox. He really looks like a coach though doesn’t he? Next year when he is managing a Subway, customers will think “that guy looks like he should be a football coach.” I am pretty sure that is what keeps Jeff Fisher employed. I am very excited about our new arrivals today! Thank goodness for credit cards!!! A couple of years ago the bank blocked a transaction from me while I was buying birthday presents for myself. I called and the man said “there have been quite a number of charges to a business called Southern Spirits.” “Two things!” I said in a huff, “First, I work there, and second some of those were gifts!”. Is it bad when the credit card company thinks your card has been stolen because you buy more booze than any other item?
I would like to welcome all of the new readers. I know you had no idea what you were signing up for and there is an unsubscribe button at the bottom of this :). Yes the boozeletters are pretty much all like this. Special shout out to all my subscribers that do not read this, “your socks are on backwards!” Readers please do not tell the non-readers about this epidemic. One man’s survey reveals non-boozeletter readers frequently wear there socks backwards costing them job interviews, promotions, and hot first dates! I have not been drinking! Yes I am a weirdo and so is your face!!!
VIVA LA FRANCE!!!
Don’t roll your eyes, whatever you think of their culture or politics, France makes some of the best wine on the planet and this Friday will demonstrate that from top to bottom!
VAL DE MER BRUT ROSE: This is a sparkling wine made from `100% Pinot Noir Grapes. Great price point, should be tasty.
TRIMBACH RIESLING: Alsatian wines remain a well kept secret in the United States. They make some of the best and most affordable white wines in the known universe. Discover how versatile a grape Riesling is!
SAINT COSME COTES DU RHONE: It is a very common misconception that blends are in some way inferior. This is absolutely not the case. Give a winemaker grapes to play with and they can make a wine sing. Tie their hands with one varietal and then even the best of them can have an off year.
DOMAINE DES SENECHAUX: If it is good enough for the Pope then it is good enough for me! Chateauneuf-du-Pape is one of my all time favorite blends from France or anywhere else! These big, full bodied beauties prove that you can make a big wine without it being clumsy.
SATURDAY SCOTCH TASTING 1:30-3:30
JURA!! Welcome to the wonderful world of Jura! It is its very own island and it has its very own taste.
JURA 10: This is a light and sweet scotch that is very drinkable! A lot of people are afraid of it, because it comes from a different area, and is rarely talked about.
JURA SUPERSTITION: This lightly peated scotch is perfect for fall! Without the bombast of the Ardbeg, but still enough Peat in there to make you to take notice.
KEITH’S CABINET: What Keith is drinking now
Ron Cartavio 12 year: I am enjoying this rum quite a bit. I am a big fan of this distillery from top to bottom.
David Nicholson: I have enjoyed this bourbon a lot. It feels a little bit like an old friend somehow. I have enjoyed it by itself and with cocktails.
BLACKWOOD GIN: Scotland continues to produce top shelf gins that are all interesting and well made.
HIGH WEST DOUBLE RYE: Found this at the back of the cabinet! (Yes that is right, Keith’s cabinet is a real place and it is stuffed to the gills!) Down the hatch it went, still as good as I remember!
REBEL YELL TEN YEAR OLD SINGLE BARREL: I do not know anything about this one yet, other than I like whiskey with age statements and that are single barrel.
SMOOTH AMBLER AMERICAN: That is right, one of my favorite distilleries has a new whiskey! This one is a blend of bourbon and whiskey aged in used bourbon barrels!
FORTALEZA TEQUILA!: A lot of people would call this, pound for pound the best tequila in the world! You can count me in that number. I had this three days before I left for the Carolina’s for California and have been on the hunt ever since! Well someone was finally smart enough to bring it in, and now a few of you will get to enjoy it, because it sounds like there will be supply issues.
GANCIA AMERICANO: You can never have enough Italian bitters, so here is another one! Have not tried it yet, but the more the merrier.
DAVID NICHOLSON RESERVE: Well I enjoyed the Nicholson regular, so I assume I will enjoy the reserve.
BAILEY’S PUMPKIN: Make your own pumpkin latte!
CAPTAIN MORGAN’S JACK-O BLAST: What is it? God only knows? It is orange and says Pumpkin on it.
LYCHEE MARTINI:
1 OZ OF LYCHEE LIQUEUR GIFFARD
2 OZ OF VODKA
6 OZ OF TONIC
