Fall Booze News and Cocktail Recipes From Southern Spirits
FRIDAY WINE 4:00-6:00
JOH. JOS. PRUM RIESLING: This is a name that equals quality. They make amazing wines that will make you re-evaluate your concept of Riesling. You can age this wine for a decade or drink it today. Either way it will turn a mediocre meal into something good, and a good meal into something special.
VIGNETTE PINOT NOIR: Willamette Valley Oregon has become world famous for a reason. While California makes some of the fruitier Pinot’s, Oregon has become noted for brining the oak and the earth. Sometimes this is referred to as Burgundy style, but you will never hear me say that because Burgundy produces every style of Pinot you can imagine, from the fruitiest you ever had to the earthiest.
KLEIN CONSTANTIA: South Africa never really got their moment in the sun. It seems like every time they are about to have it, some other country comes a long and steals their thunder. That is okay because Martha is out there finding well priced red blends like this one for you guys.
TARIMA HILL: Still have time for one last BBQ? Of course you do, and this would be a great wine for it. This Monastrell is bursting at the seams with fruit!
SATURDAY YELLOW ROSE 12:00-3:00
This very well made whiskey from Texas should probably be more famous than it is. These guys are doing it right, and the whiskey will demonstrate that fact. You will not see Mathew MacConaughey driving his Lincoln into a vat of it on tv, but you will notice the care and quality in which it is made. They have a blended, a rye, and a bourbon. There are silly people that think noon is too early for whiskey. I have had some of the best whiskey on the planet at 7 a.m. when scientifically your pallet is at its best. There is no good time to chug whiskey, this is a tasting, not a drinking. Tiny cups that even if you have all three will not equal even close to one proper drink.
KEITH’S CABINET: What Keith is drinking now.
FORTALEZA REPOSADO: Many of you were disappointed that we sold out so quickly, but good news, because it is back! I think that pound for pound this is the best tequila in the world!
OLDE HICKORY DREAD GOD: Many of you were disappointed that this beer sold out so quickly, but good news because it is also back! I could not resist buying another one last Saturday and I enjoyed it with my best friend and it will be extremely hard to not buy another. Side not, you could totally age this beer.
RON ABUELO COGNAC FINISH: I keep this one on my nightstand because it makes me happy to look at it. Also, I like to pour a tiny amount before bed, to guarantee that the day ends well.
OSKAR BLUES OLD CHUB: My old beer guy Richard, loved saying the name of this beer and I love drinking it. As the weather starts to shift towards Fall, this is the perfect beer.
KAHLUA CHILI CHOCOLATE: I like this trend of mixing the spicy and the sweet and I hope it continues!
JEFFERSONS OAK EXPERIMENT COLLECTION: This collection of five different 200ml bottles were all aged in different oak variations. This is whiskey geek gold as it allows you to experience just how big of an impact oak makes to whiskey.
JACK DANIELS 15OTH ANNIVERSSARY BOTTLE: Jack is celebrating its 150th, but if you ask famous bourbon historian and personal hero, Chuck Cowdery, he will tell you that they are not 150 years old. That in fact, in 1866 Jack Daniels was 16 years old. We do have a case of this whiskey in stock.
ALIEN VODKA: You guys have requested this repeatedly so here it is. It comes in a big green Alien head and was filtered through a meteor (no, I am not making any of this up!).
TOMATIN CU BOCAN: A non-chill filtered, lightly smoke release that was specially requested by a customer. I ordered an extra bottle for any other interested parties. Sounds pretty yummy.
FORTALEZA ANEJO: Once again, all I can say is that this is the tequila I have been impatiently waiting for and I am thrilled it is here. A whiskey drinkers tequila that is the most complex tequila I have ever encountered.
FORTALEZA BLANCO: I do not care for most silver tequila. I find them to be quite dull for the most part. This tequila is anything but dull. This is a sipping silver that starts sweet and finishes spicy. They use the oldest methods that have been long abandoned by these big factory houses. It is an experience.
