Hey booze fans! Welcome to 2015 the year of the classic cocktail with a twist! Classic cocktails are making a comeback and I think that this is the year that they become the dominant species!
I hope that everyone had a happy New Years Eve! I certainly did. We would once again like to thank you all for choosing us. We know that you have choices and it matters to us that you picked us so many times and for so many things. We had an amazing December, and that was all thanks to you! I promise that I will continue to chase down every item you are looking for, continue to find the latest and greatest booze out there, and that we will try them for you, and put the best bottle in your hand! We are 100 % committed to being the best. The way Summer adds awesome beers every week, how Martha fights tooth and nail to always get the best buys in wine, and how yours truly will never be satisfied.
TASTINGS: WILL RESUME NEXT WEEKEND WITH THE LOVELY KENDRA, BOURBONS, AND TOP SHELF VODKA!
NEW ARRIVALS:
RON ABUELO 12YR: This Panamian beauty is a lovely rum that I have been after for a long time. It stands toe to toe with all of the other beauties in the section. It has the rich Vanilla of the Zaya, but is drier like Kirk and Sweeney.
RON ABUELO CENTARIO: How about a thirty year old rum? How about it is one of the best things I have ever tasted in my life!!! Our beer buyer Summer, bought it for New Years and shared it with me. Well it blew my mind, easily the best rum I have ever had. Smooth, complex, and incredibly long finish. Expensive? Compared to thirty year old Cognac, or whiskey? Definitely not! What a way to close the year!!!!
JEWEL OF RUSSIA: It is here is here, the Czar is here! This is my all time favorite vodka. When I worked at my first liquor store in Northern California we had a LARGE Russian population. They ALWAYS bought Russian Standard regular for themselves, Platinum for special parties, and Jewel of Russia for presents. Each Christmas I would beg my boss to order up on it, but it did not happen and we would run out, and the Russians would just leave and go to another store because it was the Jewel or nothing!
CITRON SAUVAGE: Grapefruit liqueur! This is not for drinking straight, this is to be used as a means to elevate cocktails (Margarita, manhattan, Greyhound). Potent and powerful, this was another customer request.
RECIPE OF THE WEEK: EXTRA GREYHOUND
1.5 OZ DEEP EDDY GRAPEFRUIT
4 0Z OF FEVER TREE BITTER LEMON (if you like sweet just use the regular lemon)
A sploosh of the Citra Sauvage, (this stuff is popular and remember you can’t subtract but you can add, so honestly a dab will do you, treat it like angostura bitters)
