Rosé wine gets its light pink color from only touching grape skins for a short amount of time. While many red wines ferment with grape skins for several weeks at a time, and white wines not at all, rosé wines are left with the skins for only a few hours. The winemaker has total control of the wine color and removes the skins, which add the pigment, whenever the wine has reached the perfect tint of pink.
Rosé wine can be found from in many areas of the world and can be made using many varieties of grapes. The type of grape used to make rosé wines determines the flavors that the wine will have. Some common flavors found in rosé wines are strawberry, melon, floral, citrus and rhubarb.
