Winter Booze News From Southern Spirits!
FRIDAY WINE 4:00-6:00
BLIND TASTING!
What does this mean? This means that we will be tasting four wines, and you will not know what they are. Why? First of all, it is a fun way to taste wines. You are throwing out all preconceptions and just focusing on the wine. It can be very hard to ignore all of the distractions when trying a wine, whether it be a silly label, a grape you had a bad experience with, or a score from a “wine expert.” So embrace this fun experiment.
KEITH’S CABINET: WHAT KEITH IS DRINKING NOW
VIRGIL KAINE BOURBON: This bottle was gifted to me, and that allowed me to break my no revisiting rule. I have been enjoying this quite a bit. It is drier than I remembered and has been enjoyed, neat, with ginger ale, and in a manhattan.
JEFFERSON’S KEITH SELECTED SMALL BATCH: I am down to last bit of this wonderful whiskey. I have only had this neat, because it is already on the lighter side. There is still a good amount of cases in stock but we are already more than halfway through the entire barrel.
JEFFERSON’S KEITH SELECTED RESERVE: This is almost gone as well. This one I have done both on the rocks and neat but have settled on preferring it neat.
LEOPOLD BROTHERS ORANGE CURACAO: Right after saying the words “I really don’t need another orange liqueur” I tasted this lovely liquid and for what seems like the thousandth time was immediately proven wrong. It starts sweet but then finishes bitter, due to the use of the orange peel.
BACKWOODS PECAN WHISKEY: What can I say? People seem like to flavored whiskey and Pecan appears to be one of the preferred flavors.
WOODFORD BITTERS: Did I mention we now have a selection of wonderful Woodford bitters and cherries? Yes Keith you did! Well I must have because they are flying right off the shelf into soon to be happy peoples cocktails!
JOHN MACQUEEN’S GREEN RUSSIAN
Created by super taster John Macqueen a couple of years ago, this remains one of the best cocktails in the known universe, and will be perfect to combat the snowy weather.
1.5 ounces of St. George Green Chile vodka (no substitutions!)
.5 ounces of Tia Maria (St. George Nola, Kahlua, Copa De Oro)
1.5 ounces Buffalo Trace Bourbon Cream (Baileys, Ryan’s)
Shake and serve on the rocks!
