What’s New at Southern Spirits?
We are always working to bring you the newest and the best products on the market! Here’s what’s new in the liquor department with comment from our very own liquor department manager, Keith Haze!
Before Billy Murray made Suntory Whiskey famous there was Nikka. These folks have been at it for a long time. There founder was formally trained in Scotland, then hired by Suntory to make Japan’s first whiskey. Afterwards he opened his own distillery. This 12 year old is a blend from the two Nikka distilleries and I am very excited to have it. Those of you whom are biased against Japanese whiskey should try one first before dismissing it. They are very serious about the process and put out a high quality product.
This is the higher end release from the same distillery. Famous whiskey critic Jim Murray described it as velvety. Sadly I have not tried it yet, but my heart doth yearn for its sweet nectar to pass my lips!
This delicious rum from the Dominican Republic was brought in by a customers request and it is our beer buyers favorite! I am quite fond of it myself and wish that we could get more, sadly supplies are limited.
Is it a vodka? Is it a cognac? Is it a marketing gimmick? I believe it to be all three! I am almost certain that is a well made but overpriced product that will not find its way into my cabinet, but so far the reviews are positive.
We are always on the lookout for affordable scotch. Well I found one. This will not set your world on fire, but it will give you an affordable and pleasant break from Dewars, Famous Grouse, and Black Label.
This tequila is so much fun! It is explosive in flavor and complexity despite being a silver. I think of it as a baby mescal.
The once a year release from the newest distillery in Scotland. These guys make nothing but winners and I a certain this will not disappoint.
A potato gin, why not? Perfect for those that want a gluten free gin. It is from Maine and I brought it in for a customer. (you see it pays to ask) I am looking forward to trying it.
Looking for something special? Give Keith a call! He is always happy to hear your suggestions and ideas for making our already excellent selection even better!
