Southern Spirits Is Ready for Panthers Football!
Hey there booze fans, the NFL has arrived! Carolina will get their revenge tonight and welcome Trevor Siemian (new Denver QB, Peyton Manning is now selling pizza full time, don’t be surprised if he delivers one to your door if for some reason you felt compelled to order from Papa barfs) to the NFL. I do not envy Trevor, I expect him to meet Luke Kuechly and the boys up close and personal several times. As for my Bears, the less said the better. Here is hoping for an awesome draft pick and a new head coach. If we could beat the Packers once this year and develop some of our younger players I will call it a win.
Okay that is enough NFL for the moment. Thank you all so much for coming out to our Tequila tasting! It was a huge hit and the feedback has been so awesome. These bottles are flying off the shelf at record speed and we are thrilled. We have started the process of ordering and selecting a new barrel to see if we can catch lightning twice!
WINE FRIDAY 4:00-6:00
HALL SAUVIGNON BLANC: An excellent winery that makes an outstanding Sauvignon blanc. The perfect wine to transition from Summer to Fall with.
MORGAN CHARDONNAY: I love this winery and I love this wine! Year after year the Morgan family continues to produce nothing but fantastic wines. Plenty of fruit to stand on its own, but also a very friendly dinner wine.
A TO Z PINOT NOIR: An affordable Pinot from Oregon. This makes a good introduction to the style of wine that they make in Oregon.
STARMONT CABERNET: This is a well made wine from the people at Merrryvale. (A great winery to visit, if you are ever in Napa). This is a check all the boxes, traditional, and sturdy Cabernet, that will give you the flavors that made Napa famous without breaking the bank!
New Belgium Heavy Watermelon and Fat Tire!
Beer Geeks like to turn their nose up at Fat Tire, but you cannot deny the impact they had on the growth of the craft beer industry. This was the beer that took Coors and Bud out of a lot of peoples hands and started them down the path of the unique and wonderful. So while it may not find its way to my fridge anymore I still have a healthy respect for what they accomplished.
MOUNT GAY RUM SATURDAY 4:00-6:00
A definitive step up from Bacardi, these guys make an excellent rum for Dark and Stormies, Rum and Cokes, and they make sipping rum as well.
HOT DOGS FOR CHARITY!! 12:00-5:00
This time we are helping out Golden Retrievers! So stop by, buy a pint, have a hot dog, and save a Golden Retriever.
MAESTRO DOBBEL: Yes, yes yes, I am continuing to enjoy our awesome tequila, but it is so close to empty, will probably not survive this weekend!
FOUR ROSES YELLOW: Forget about how bad it used to be, when it was made by someone else! Try this well priced whiskey again now that is made by one of the best distilleries in the world.
MICHTERS CASK STRENGTH RYE: Wow, this stuff is explosive! I was seriously impressed with how fully flavored this is. This whiskey really engages you from start to finish!
BLACKWOOD GIN: As long as it is hot outside the gin drinking will continue! Plus with all of these amazing gin’s to work through, how could I resist? This gin is very unique and is making some spectacular gin and tonics that have almost a fall like taste to them. Sometimes people say, Keith your shoes are literally falling apart, maybe you should not buy this bottle and buy new shoes instead? Shoes do not make me happy folks.
RON ABUELO XV FINISH CASK SERIES!!!!! It is here and it is wonderful! Many of you have heard me blathering about these rums for weeks and now they have arrived! They come in three wonderful varieties. They are priced around 80 bucks and are worth every penny!
SHERRY CASK: This one was my least favorite and it was absolutely wonderful. If someone gave me a bottle of this I would be thrilled and after I finish the first two I will be purchasing one.
TAWNY PORT CASK: One sip of this and you will wonder why more people are not doing this! It smells amazing and tastes even better. A real treat! As soon as I finish the Cognac cask I will be buying one of these.
COGNAC CASK: This one was the king for me! It strikes the perfect balance between character and drinkability. A full rich body gives way to a long and even finish. Vanilla and Caramel are layered in such a lovely way. I will be having a bit of this each night until it is gone. The roommate and I enjoyed a glass of this last night!
BAILEYS PUMPKIN SPICE: Is it Halloween already? I feel like there are a lot of people that get paid a ton of money to plan these things, and they somehow cannot do it. All of the pumpkin stuff is long gone by Halloween (except for the worst of the worst). Anyway I tried this in my coffee and had a tasty pumpkin espresso!
GRAPEFRUIT MAGICAL ELIXIR
I wanted to give it a flashy name, but this is another one of these so simple but so wonderful cocktails, that is perfect for the dog days of summer.
2 oz of Grapefruit Vodka (Deep Eddy or Shady Fruit)
4 oz of tonic (fever tree or Q)
If you are feeling fancy you can add some elderflower liqueur or some Giffard grapefruit brandy.
