Hey there booze fans, I am super excited to share our new little tag system with you! Yesterday the staff and I walked the shelves and chose a bunch of different items and then tagged them with these bright green tags. Those tags mean we think that those items are awesome! This was just round one, so there are many other wonderful items that did not get a tag, but this was just a fun and helpful way for you guys to discover new items without having to wait to speak to one of us. Sometimes while I am telling a five minute anecdote about the first time I ever had this booze you really want to just grab something cool and check out and you probably already heard that story and five just like it and you also have to go to the bathroom, and your dog is in the car, plus you might have left the stove on!   You see I cannot even explain about the simple tag system without meandering and you know if you are talking to Eric he is just as likely to explain the entire history of Vodka as he is to point and say “yep, that is the one”. GREEN=GREAT! There I did it! Hey how about those Cubs? Only May you say? The Cubs have been out of it at this point in the season many times in my life, so for them to be in first place at any point is always cause for celebration. I just want my Dad to see the Cubs win the world series at least once in his life! The Cubs get a green sticker! TASTINGS

FRIDAY WINE 4:00-6:00

PIAZZA DEL DOTTO: A sauvignon blanc from Rutherford, which is where my favorite California Sauvingnon blancs come from. Martha says this is a winery to watch out for.

LA FRUITIERE: A chardonnay from the Loire valley? Welcome to globalization folks! I do like the fact that it is 12% abv

SUPERY CABERNET: A very reliable winery, this wine consistently scores 90 or over this vintage got a 91 Wine Advocate.

TENSHEN: Red Blend from Santa Barbara. Winemaker and importer have teamed up to make a blend of whatever are the best grapes they can find.

SATURDAY TEQUILA, COFFEE, AND RUM WITH TEQUILA 4:00-6:00

AVION ESPRESSO: I actually like this better than the Patron XO.

AVION SILVER: I get this question a lot. Yes Vince’s character was based on both my life and Mark Whalbergs life.

MALIBU RED: What happens when you mix rum and tequila together…on purpose!

LOS ALTOS REPOSADO: One of the best buys in tequila. This will make a great margarita or can be had all by itself.

KEITH’S CABINET: What Keith is drinking now.

GREENHAT GIN: I made a gin and tonic with it, and it tasted like lemonade in a good way. I made a martini with it and it tasted like yes!

SMOOTH AMBLER CONTRADICTION: I got a great tip from the distiller on this already wonderful whiskey. He told me that this stuff is aging in barrels still so each batch is older than the next! The stuff from Batch 16 is wonderful!

DON FULANO TEQUILA: This awesome product has been dropped! We only have what we have currently in stock. Great stuff, it will be missed.

HANGAR 1 LIME: New version is just a tasty as the old version! Mix with tonic for amazingly refreshing drink.

OSCAR BLUES DEVIANT DALES: This imperial IPA is an amazing beer that really delivers.

NEW ARRIVALS

IW HARPER 15: When this brand got revived I was quite excited, but being that we are in South Carolina they held the best stuff from us until the “more important” states got theirs. Well now it is here! Limited supply, so one per customer please.

THREE OLIVES APPLE/PEAR: The perfect vodka for when spring meets summer and I have a great recipe for it! (please see recipe of the week at the end of this endless email/blog/diatribe)

THREE OLIVES RED GRAPEFRUIT: This business is full of a lot of originality. I like to imagine these meetings. “Okay people what do you have? Um lots of people are doing grapefruit so…we should too??”

CROWN ROYAL HONEY: Please see above! We just have mini’s of this.

FOUR SQUARE RUM PORT CASK: This full bodied rum has returned after a prolonged absence. I really enjoy its balance of fruit, spiciness, and dryness.

SMOOTH AMBLER VODKA: That is right these guys make a vodka too! Guess what? It is also delicious!

MEZCALES OAXACA: From the brilliant minds that brought us the Durango (best mezcal ever!) comes this mild but still racy mezcal. I didn’t know that a Mezcal could be delicate, wrong again Haze!

MEZCALES GUERRERO: This one tastes like dirt! I mean that in the best possible way. I almost liked this as much as the Durango. Earthy goodness!

RECIPE OF THE WEEK:

PEAR MARTINI: This is one of the best cocktails I have ever come up with!

2 oz of pear vodka (three olives apple-pear, absolut pear, grey goose poire)

6 oz of Sipp Pear (It is back! This stuff is one of the best mixers ever!!!!)
