Welcome to November. Where are 2012 gone? It seems like we were just welcoming the year and now 2013 is upon us!
Our November Liquor Tasting calendar is out and I’d like to take a moment and chat about the different flavors we will be trying this month.
Created as a special small batch bourbon, Larceny is made from 100 barrels or less.
Distilling in a small batch allows the Master Distillers to choose only those barrels that have achieved the ideal taste profile and reached peak maturity.
Our agave plants come from the same botanical line of mother plants used for over 250 years, dating back to the first distillery started by Jose Antonio deCuervo and carried on through eight generations of agave growers. This achievement can only be attained by the delicate process of harvesting the ‘sons’ of the agave mother plants and replanting them for new growth. Eight generations of the Beckmann family have kept this rich lineage alive, as the future of the line has always been inextricably tied to that of our agave plants. We do all this so you can experience the treasured tradition and pride that is delivered in each sip of Lunazul.
After many years in the wine trade, American ex-pat John Glaser entered the world of Scotch whisky, learning his art through one of the industry’s largest companies. In 2000, he started Compass Box Whisky Company, based on his commitment to evolving practices in the industry to make great Scotch whisky more approachable and relevant to more people. From the beginning, his vision has been to create one of Scotland’s finest and most exciting whisky companies, re-establishing the standards for quality and style in the industry. Today, John Glaser is considered one of the most respected whiskymakers of his generation.
KRU82 is a premium vodka with a remarkably clean and crisp taste. What sets our vodka apart from all the rest is an unusually smooth finish. Bird Dog Whiskey starts out with the finest white oak barrel aged Kentucky Bourbon Whiskey and is then blended, including the finest of all natural blackberry flavors to create what may be the smoothest easiest drinking whiskey around. Bird Dog is perfect straight up, on the rocks or in your favorite cocktail. Tres Leches Triple Cream Liqueur was inspired by the Latin American cake that shares the same name. Our distinctive blend of only the finest Caribbean rum and rich cream captures the true essence of the dessert.
The long awaited Cardinal Gin is about to be hatched. This small batch gin mixes tradition and modern technology. No other distillery in the United States uses the same methods that Southern Artisan Spirits uses. The botanicals are all organic and the most fresh in the world. We are sure you will enjoy this fine beverage.
On the nose, jasmine floral notes boldly make an immediate statement. Hints of citrus and honey follow, contributing a softer, warmer note. In the mouth, Hennessy Black keeps these unexpected flavours, also releasing the cleansing characteristics of white flowers and fresh grapes.
Evan Williams Cinnamon, Cherry, Honey and Blackheart Rum
A man who had a knack for turning corn into whiskey. He started off by growing corn. More corn than he could use and at harvest time. Unfortunately it was too bulky to transport and you couldn’t store it. It just went bad. Bringing what he knew from his travels from Virginia to Kentucky, the business man in him decided to distill it and use it for trade. We don’t have to tell you, but with his whiskey, it was always easy to trade.
A different style of rum, Whaler’s is made according to an old Hawaiian recipe. Legend has it that early seafarers rattled vanilla beans in empty rum bottles at sunset to entice migrating whales to their boats to guide them to the tropical haven known as Hawaii.
Baileys – Hazelnut and Mint Chocolate
Baileys is a perfect marriage of fresh, premium quality Irish dairy cream, finest spirits, Irish whiskey and a proprietary recipe of chocolate flavors. Over 75% of the raw ingredients and packaging used to make and present Baileys is sourced from the island of Ireland. The cream is fresh dairy cream that comes from pasture fed cows in Ireland. The whiskey is Irish Whiskey supplied from a number of distilleries including The Old Bushmills Distillery, County Antrim. The sugar comes from sugar cane and sugar beet. The distinct style of Baileys is derived from a unique proprietary cocoa extract recipe giving Baileys its chocolate character and essence.
