News from Liquor Land!
Here’s Keith’s News of the Week!
HIGHLAND PARK 12 VS THE MACALLAN 12 PLUS TWO OTHERS. FRIDAY 3:30-6:30
Most people who never drink Scotch have heard of The Macallan! This Scotch is the most famous in the world come and find out why! Now most people have never tried Highland Park 12 and I find this to be quite criminal. It should be much more popular than it is, and I think it is the superior whisky between the two. I find that The Macallan 12 is an incredibly smooth whisky but that it lacks the amount of character that I need and want from my whisky. But I will let you decide. Please tell Kendra which one was your favorite and I will post the results from the tasting. The other two whisky’s are no slouches. We have the Highland Park Dark Origin’s which is a tasty sherry cask version of the whisky. Then we have Cutty Sark Prohibition; that is right Keith Allen Haze is endorsing a Cutty Sark product! Why? Because it is quite tasty for the money.
SATURDAY HIGH WEST!!!! 4:30-6:30
Mian is back again! This time she is pouring the fantastic stuff from one of my all time favorite distilleries, including my baby American Prairie Reserve which I nicknamed Baby Blantons. This stuff is just incredible. Last time they were here it was our biggest turnout ever and we sold out of several products. What an awesome weekend it is going to be!
NEW ARRIVALS:
DON FULANO TEQUILA!
This is for all of you high end tequila lovers. I am constantly searching for the best stuff on the planet and Don Fulano makes top shelf stuff. The liquid inside is as beautiful as the bottle. I have been after this one for quite sometime and had basically given up when finally it got picked up. I am going to grab one for myself tonight or tomorrow and see if it is as good as I remember.
JIM BEAM BOTTLED IN BOND
This is the latest release from the folks at Beam, and it is a good idea. The concept of bottled in bond has mostly been lost in the industry. What this means is that it must be at least for years old and at least 50% abv. It also must come from one distillery, one master distiller in one season. I am pretty excited about it actually. Can not get a straight answer on whether or not it is limited or not.
HANA GIN: This floral little gin is both affordable and perfect for Gin and Tonics. This might become my house gin.
HM “THE KING”: Are you loving Bank Note but want to try a little something different? If right now you still have not tried Bank Note but drink Scotch, you are just being stubborn and silly! Anyway “The King” is a good alternative to Bank Note and another welcome addition.
MOTU RUM: This lovely little dark rum is from Hawaii, and it too is affordable and tasty! This will make an excellent dark and stormy!
MAJESTE VSOP COGNAC: I needed another cognac that was better than the big three; Hennessy, Remy, and Courvoisier and I found one. My mission to stop every overpriced, over-marketed, and under-performing spirit continues!
GLEN MORAY PORT CASK: Always wanted to try a port cask scotch but do not want to spend 60 bucks? Well this little fellow might be your answer.
KEITH’S CABINET (what Keith drank last week)
AVIATION GIN: I tried this on the staff and while everyone agreed it was well made, half liked it and half did not. It has some strong herbal notes and finishes with an almost black licorice taste. I believe that it functions better as a Martini or Negroni, than as a Gin and Tonic.
JACK RUDY ELDERFLOWER TONIC SYRUP: Awesome! Love everything about it. Works with gin or vodka.
HERENCIA BLANCO: This is my new favorite silver Tequila. It has a body! It is smooth and fun.
BEER NEWS:
AVERY MEPHISTOPHELES! This big bad beast of a beer is 17% ABV!!! That means it is illegal in this state and yet we have it. Ha! And an exciting collaboration.
Jolly Pumpkin!! The king of the genre bending sour beers. We now have them in smaller sizes.
Plus so much more. No one can really keep track of all the awesome beers Summer brings in.
