New Year’s Eve In Charlotte Is Easy with Your Favorite Wine, Beer & Liquor Store!
Keith Haze is back this week with the BOOZELETTER! Will one of his resolutions this year to be less like his grumpy self? Judging by the champagne rant below, we feel confident that he will keep bringing his bearded charm to 2016!
Keith says, “Hey there booze fans, we made it through another Christmas. Isn’t it amazing how much effort celebrating takes? There you are working hard as ever at your job but you also have to plan Christmas, presents, parties, feasts, travel arrangements, and on and on. Then the big day happens, joy is evident, you did it. If you are lucky you get thanks and help, but many of you toil in obscurity making the magic happen without anyone seeing or noticing the strings. Thank you. I am lucky to have people in my life that make me feel welcome and part of something each Christmas, and I am thankful for that because I would be lost without them. Now it is time for Round 12! One last celebration/test, before we can relax for a second!”
TASTINGS
12/31 12:00-3:00 MAESTRO DOBBEL
There was such an enormously positive response to this tasting, that boss man Don, invited her back! Maria, the Tequila ambassador will be back educating everyone on the finer points of this abused an underrated spirit! These are simply four of the best in the store, a fun and non traditional way to bring in the new year.
BEER 12:00-4:00 BLOWING ROCK BREWERY
Another happy return! We welcome them and their tasty local beers back. Summer is super excited about the Belgian Strong Ale, it is “one of her favorite beers ever!”
Keith’s cabinet: What Keith is drinking now
FOUR ROSES SINGLE BARREL: So good. People chase all of these bourbons, but there are wonderful ones like this available at anytime!
ST. GEORGE RASPBERRY: Forget the Chambord already! This stuff is wayyyyy better, an perfect to put in your sparkling wine, or just drink on its own.
BERTINA ELDERFLOWER: Forget St. Germain! This is the real elderflower liqueur! Put this in you sparkling wine and amaze your friends, guests, and loved ones!
BUFFALO TRACE BOURBON CREAM: Man this stuff is too good! Soon it will be gone till next year. Wayyyyyy better than Baileys.
Hangar One Kaffir Lime: Since this December is a thousand degrees I made an amazing Vodka tonic with this for Christmas! Cheers to you Al Gore.
NEW ARRIVALS
SHEEP DIP ISLAY: Many of you have been asking for an Islay blend, and I have agreed that one is desperately needed, well here she is!
THE FEATHERY: While looking for the Islay blend I stumbled into a Highland one. I am very excited about this whisky! It is a blend of only sherry cask Highland single malts.
MACALLAN LIMTED EDITION ONE: We were able to score another case of this. I certainly enjoyed it, and it is absolutely flying off the shelf.
GRAND DUQUE D ALBA CREMA: The Cream of all creams! Made from the delicious Spanish brandy. Coming to Keith’s cabinet VERY soon!
CANA BRAVA 7: If you have never had the regular Cana Brava, then you have been missing out as it is the best white rum out there! Now here comes the older, wiser, and sadly allocated version.
RECIPES OF THE WEEK
Fun things to do with your champagne!* (sparkling wine)
Let us clear up something once and for all. Champagne must come from Champagne, France. It must follow the traditional method. So when you walk in and say “where is your ten dollar Champagne”, well there is not any. Not without a time machine anyway. There is no domestic Champagne, Italian Champagne etc, and that is okay. Sparkling wine is made all around the world and while Champagne is still the best, there are many awesome Sparklers that give the French a run for their money, including their own countrymen who make all kinds of amazing sparkling wines outside of France. So this year buy a Prosecco, buy a Cava, buy a Cremant, buy a California sparkling wine, but just don’t call them Champagne. 🙂 Glad we cleared that up.
