Liquor Store BOOZE NEWS in Charlotte and North & South Carolina
Dr Haze is back booze fans! It was a great trip out to the west coast to visit my previous constituents and had a wonderful time catching up. However, I must confess that it was not easy to so far removed after a few days, and I did find myself in a liquor store selling booze to a confused but ultimately happy customer. I am a sick man! One thing noticed for certain is that there is no bourbon shortage in California. I tripped over a bottle of Buffalo Trace at supermarket (yes we sell booze in supermarkets in California, dig the freedom baby!). The reason I almost tripped over it was because there was literally no more room on the display for it to fit so they had to put it ON THE FLOOR!
Supposedly a big wig from their company is stopping by today. Should I? A) Kidnap him and demand a steady supply for his release B) Kiss his feet and beg him for some bourbon C) Play hard to get and pretend not to know what his company sells. D) Punch him in the face until his lackeys tackle me to the ground. Good luck to us all!
FRIDAY TASTINGS 3:30-6:30 BLUE HEAD TEQUILA AND PRE-MADE COCKTAILS
Blue Head is one of my favorite tequilas. It is the perfect choice for when you want something nicer than El Charro but do not want to break the bank. I will admit that I am not a fan of pre-made drinks, because I love making drinks, but if you are going to buy one, buy a good one! This margarita is made using Blue Head tequila, and this Chocolate drink is sure to be a holiday favorite.
WINE TASTING 4:00-6:00
SELBACH RIESLING: Summer may be over but that is no reason to stop drinking the most food friendly wine in the world!
KAIKEN MALBEC: Eight years ago there were more Malbecs than people on the Planet Earth, but most of the worst are gone and the best remain. This is one of the better ones.
J. Lohr Hilltop Cabernet: What do you get when a giant winery takes it time and makes a single vineyard wine? You get a real winner!! This is high end wine for a medium wine price.
Rombauer Zinfandel: This should be in the guiness book as the biggest Zin in the world. Tasted blind it would pass for a port!
We are going to party like it is 2015. That means live music in the parking lot, beer trucks pouring NODA and OMB! Free Brawts and Hot Dogs donated by Friends of the Library. The music will be great, the beer will be great, and the weather will be great! It is going to be an awesome time, I know that I am excited about it. Click here for more details!
SATURDAY TASTING 3:30-6:30 PALMETTO WHISKEY
Palmetto Whiskey has become one of our better selling whiskeys both locally and otherwise. Come and find out why!
Keith’s Cabinet: What Keith is drinking now
St. George Gin: While out in California I bought the variety pack and enjoyed it greatly. I love their stuff!
Pickers Blueberry Vodka: This stuff from Nashville is tasty. Try a mini for just a buck!
High West Midwinters Dram: I got a great price on this at a bar. Man is it tasty!
High West Bourye: Brought a bottle of this for my Father. So big, so complex, so very well made.
Paul Beau Vsop: Elegant. Very elegant. I can see why it made Pacaults top 50.
Many things that we can not get out here 🙁
Johnnie Walker Rye Cask: That is right, the folks at JW are not resting on their laurels. They are out there experimenting. Most of those experiments are duty free or UK only but this one has landed.
EZRA BROOKS 12: That is right! Ezra has made a high end bourbon. 12 years old, single barrel, 99 proof! Looking forward to lighting this candle!
High West Midwinters Dram: IT IS BACK! This will fly. Tiny allotment. You have been warned.
Trianon Reposado: With apologies to my beloved Casa Noble, this is now my favorite Repo. It has everything I ever wanted in a tequila. Long, smooth, complex, spicy, rich, and just flat out wonderful.
Brandy fans (and if you are not, why not?) you should stop by and see what I have for you all! Ahhh it is good to be back!
