January Booze News and Tastings!
TASTINGS FRIDAY WINE 4:00-6:00
TASTE OF SPAIN!!!
Come and explore one of the best wine countries in the world!
MARTINSANCHO RUEDA VERDEJO: I am so excited about this wine! Spain doesn’t get much credit for their whites, but that is a big mistake because they make excellent white wines and great prices.
MONOPOLE RIOJA: Speaking of well made Spanish whites, here is another! Rioja also makes white wine folks.
TRITON TINTA DE TORO: An old vine tempranillo for twenty bucks? Yes please!
CUNE RIOJA GRAN RESERVA 2010: A 94 point Rioja! There are few wines more elegant than a well made red rioja!
SATURDAY 2:00-5:00 JACK AND FRIENDS
COOPERS CRAFT: We like this bourbon. It is well made, it is well priced, and it is pretty friendly.
GENTLEMAN JACK: The smoother and older brother of Jack Black.
JACK HONEY: This has become the king of the honey.
JACK FIRE: A less sweet alternative to fireball.
KEITH’S CABINET: WHAT KEITH IS DRINKING NOW
EL DORADO 12YR: When I say this is my favorite rum distillery, there is no exaggeration. Each and every expression they make is wonderful and this 12 year is a sipper that will delight you!
SIGNATORY GLENLIVET 2006: I was very impressed with how well made this sherry bomb is!
SIGNATORY LINKWOOD 2008: Youthful and fun, I really enjoyed the banana notes, which were unexpected but pleasurable.
NEW ARRIVALS:
1921 TEQUILA AND CREAM
1921 is a distillery that I enjoyed very much in California but did not have the opportunity to bring them into the store until now. They use American white oak, which I always enjoy because it adds some nice creaminess to the tequila.
1921 TEQUILA CREAM: This has been one of the most requested items of late and I am happy to have it in the store.
HINE VSOP COGNAC: As a lot of you know I tend to prefer Armagnac over Cognac because you are getting a better bang for your buck. However, Cognac did become famous for a reason and among the “famous” brands this one is my favorite.
RECIPE OF THE WEEK
KEITH’S BITTER ORANGE MARTINI
1.5 OUNCES OF GIN (FORD’S, CONNIPTION, ST. GEORGE)
1.5 OUNCES OF LEOPOLD ORANGE
This was made in the cocktail lab on accident. I was tasting the orange and suddenly was struck with the idea that it would mix well with gin, and lo and behold it did!
