Southern Spirits Has HOT Deals on Beer, Wine and Liquor!
Hey there booze fans, it has been brutally hot out there, the kind of heat that makes you reconsider any decision that involves leaving someplace cool. I need groceries but I could just eat these leftovers from… Thanksgiving? I could mow the lawn but the grass is just going to grow back anyway. Alaska, lets move to Alaska! If you do somehow manage to find the will to leave your home, I hope that you find your way here to properly arm yourself with refreshing beverages. When I taught English in Japan the only thing that stopped me pouring ice cubes down my pants was (the general unavailability of icecubes) the promise of the Happy Hour Gin and Tonic at Captain Kangaroo’s (located for your convenience in beautiful downtown Osaka). For ten bucks, you could get a burger, fries, and a gin and tonic!! Have I ever mentioned that I love gin? Even though I feel sad for you “gin haters”, there are so many excellent options to battle this relentless heat. A good hefeweisen, a tasty pale ale, or a crisp pilsner will do the trick. Don’t likSouthern Spirits Has HOT Deals on Beer, Wine and Liquor!e gin or beer, after getting your mental health checked on, try some crisp white wine, there are many excellent options out there! AND, let us not forget the beauty and majesty of Rose! Alaska is ranging from 55-78 this time of year, just saying.
FRIDAY WINE 4:00-6:00
VAN DUZER PINTO GRIS: Pinot Gris from Oregon is made in the French style, which means while it is still light it is not flavorless like its Italian counterpart!
TEUTONIC ROSE: Another small production Oregon wine, this is made in the Alsatian style.
CROSSBARN CHARDONNAY: Whenever you see you Paul Hobbs, you know you are getting a high quality wine. Sonoma remains underrated as a wine producing region despite making a lot of high quality Chardonnays.
LES VOLETS PINOT NOIR: The hardest thing to find is an affordable Pinot Noir that isn’t gross! We think we have found one!
We are celebrating Belgian Indepence day here at Southern Spirits, where we love Belgian beers!
We will be pouring two very different ends of the Belgian beer spectrum.
Palm – a straight forward pale ale with more malt than hops.
RODENBACH: The King of the sour beers! All sour beers should be judged against these guys who have a variety of versions that range from Wonderful all the way to the Best thing ever!!
SATURDAY MUDDY RIVER 2:00-5:00
We welcome back our friends from Belmont and they are bringing their fantastic rums with them! As I have mentioned before they have an open invitation for the following reasons. They make awesome rum. They are local and we support local. They are very friendly. People keep telling me they have yet to try them! I see people walk right past the tasting bar with this “I don’t drink rum” nonsense! What is your hatred of rum based on? Drinking some Bacardi when you were nineteen? Having sixteen Malibu’s at a bachelorette party? This is the real deal folks, just give it a try, they are tiny cups!
KEITH’S CABINET: What Keith is drinking now.
209 GIN: I have been enjoying this awesome gin, in my gin and tonics, lets go with nightly.
209 BARREL AGED GIN: I have been enjoying this on the rocks, lets go with twice a week.
THATCHERS ELDERFLOWER: I am really enjoying this St. Germain substitute!
FOUR ROSES SINGLE BARREL: Last night as I was sipping this, I was just blown away by its sheer quality versus price!
AMADOR TEN BARREL WHISKEY: A lot of you have already discovered the joy of the regular Amador, this is their small batch reserve, which is a combination of malted barely and beer hops. It is then aged in Chardonnay barrels. Only ten barrels are made each year.
209 CHARDONNAY AGED GIN: California continues to produce and release world class spirits, and I am always on the lookout for them! All of these experiments are so exciting to me!
MICHTERS BARREL STRENGTH RYE: This big bad mutha comes out once a year and is super tasty! You probably won’t find it on any of these silly must have whiskey list, but it is on mine. Throw smoothness out of the window and embrace the tornado of flavor!
CHIVAS EXTRA: The folks at Chivas Regal must have been feeling left out of the non aged statement Scotch releases. So now it is there turn, this is meant to be better than the 12 and is aged in wine barrels.
SLOE GIN SPRITZER
Last summer, I had tons of fun with Sloe Gin, which we now have two top shelf versions of that erased the memory of the sticky sweet nonsense from my college drinking days. This little beauty is tart and refreshing!
4 oz of Prosecco (Cava will work too)
1 oz Sloe Gin (Plymouth or Hayman)
Splash of club soda.
Garnish with mint and blueberries
Serve in Champagne flute
