FRIDAY WINE 4:00-6:00
DOMAINE DES GERBEAUX: This French Chardonnay is a blend of used oak and stainless steel, which will make it lighter on the body and allows the fruit to shine over the oak.
M & W: This is a blend of Tempranillo and Syrah, two grapes that are quite underrated. Spain makes some of the best affordable wines out there.
KAIKEN MALBEC: When I started in this business Malbec was exploding on the scene. That section seemed to get bigger each week and the wines were all so cheap and wonderful. Then they flooded their own market much like Australia had before them and the wines became thin and over produced. Now, just like Australia the wines have again found their balance and the best ones have remained.
TARIMA HILL: A big giant Red from Spain that is bursting with fruit. The Monastrell grape is a very friendly grape that makes super accessible wines.
WOODFORD RESERVE AND FINLANDIA SATURDAY 2:00-5:00
WOODFORD RYE: One of my favorite rye’s in our wonderful rye section. If you have never had a rye this is a great one to start with.
WOODFORD DOUBLE OAKED: People are always complaining about the impossible to get bourbons, but you can get this beauty anytime! I will put it up against a LOT of other bourbons. Should a whiskey be punished for its availability?
FINLANDIA: One of the better made vodka’s that does not get much hype.
FINLANDIA TANGERINE: If you are going to get a flavored vodka, pick one that is natural and one that is not so common.
KEITH’S CABINET: WHAT KEITH IS DRINKING TODAY
HIGH WEST SINGLE BARREL RYE: This whiskey helped me not have a heart attack during the Cubs-Giants games. You heard it here first, delicious and prevents heart failure!
SMOOTH AMBLER 7: When I heard the terrible news that this item would be discontinued I bought a bunch of it for the store and one for myself. This also helped prevent a heart attack.
NODA COCO LOCO PORTER: This was my beer of choice during round one of the playoffs. By the way, it pairs well with High West Rye and Smooth Ambler 7.
BIRDSONG PORTER: This was my other beer of choice during round one of the playoffs. By the way it also paired well with the High West and the Smooth Ambler 7. Oh how I suffer for you guys!
BENROMACH PEATED: Rejoice peat lovers this peated Speyside is back in stock after a year long absence. I really loved this whiskey and revisited it on Monday. It is not overpowering like an Ardbeg, but there is plenty of smoke and peat to be found.
BENROMACH 10: This tasty scotch is not famous, but is quite well made. Drink off the beaten path.
PENNSYLVANNIA DUTCH: That is right, the egg nog has arrived, in October, which means it will be long gone before Christmas.
BERENTZEN WILD CHERRY: Another well made Cherry schnaaps is always a good thing to have around.
KERRYGOLD IRISH CREAM: I found an Irish cream that I like better than Baileys. I am not going to put it above the Buffalo Trace Cream but it is definitely worth having!
DOGWOOD: This outstanding farm to table eatery is located behind Whole Foods in the South Park area. It is quite charming inside and the menu is small but loaded with fantastic choices! I literally was agonizing over all of these wonderful items. I saved room for dessert and I am so glad I did, because it was an amazing cheesecake!
