Booze News From Your Favorite Beer, Wine and Spirits Store!
FRIDAY WINE 4:00-6:00
ASSYRTIKO SANTORINI: This light white from Greece is yet another reminder that it is important to drink outside of the box.
MARC TEMPE PINOT BLANC: I love everything about this wine! This is tasty on its own but is also a wonderful food wine. Pinot Blanc is an underrated grape that will make a comeback, I just know it!
ODDERO BARBERA D’ALBA: Italy makes a lot of wine, I am serious, they make a huge heap of wine. They make every kind of style that you can think of, but most of us insist on only exploring Chianti and Pinot Grigio. Luckily Martha is here to help you expand your universe.
CONDADO DE HAZA: Ribera del Duero is not the most famous region of Spain, but it is not one that should be ignored. I had a very memorable experience with this wine and some fantastic Chilean Sea Bass.
BELLS OBERON: Summer is gone but the wheat remains. This is the beer that Blue Moon wishes it were.
APLINE BREWING: This California brewery makes some of the milder well balanced IPA’s that California was once famous for.
SATURDAY MUDDY RIVER 2:00-5:00
We welcome back our good friends from Muddy River. They are a great reminder of so many good things. Located right in our back yard, making terrific booze, and doing it all the right way. I love having them out here and I love having their stuff on our shelf.
KEITH’S CABINET: What Keith is drinking now.
DE LORD XO: Brandy season is back, and I am enjoying it very much. This very well priced XO is first class all the way. It will completely change your perception of what a Brandy is.
RON CARTAVIO 12 year: This rum is made for this weather. Lighter than a whiskey, but still having a rich and full flavor. I sip this straight and neat, but as always, dealers choice for how you enjoy it.
FORTALEZA REPOSADO: This tequila just makes me happy. It symbolizes my long and hard struggle to make this the best store in the Carolina’s, and when I drink it, I feel like I have really accomplished something.
SMOOTH AMBLER SINGLE BARREL: Man oh man, do I love this stuff! I had this with a Narhwal stout and it was magical. My best friend and I really enjoy pairing stouts and whiskey, and this one hit the spot!
HIGH WEST SINGLE BARREL RYE!: It is here, our very own High West Single Barrel Rye! Some of you were lucky enough to get a bottle of this last year, but most of you missed out because last year we only get two cases, well this year we bought the whole damn barrel! I am stoked and will be getting up close and personal with this bottle throughout the weekend. Oh who I am kidding, tonight, I will be having some tonight!
MACALLAN EDITION #2: This is part 2 of the Macallan’s Distillers Edition series. Part 1 was a big hit, and sold out fast! Part 2 is a blend of four different casks selected by El Celler De Can Roca, one of the most famous restaurants in the world. Sadly, no one has given me a sample yet, but it sounds great!
SPOTLIGHT OF THE WEEK: PINKY’S WESTSIDE GRILL
I love everything about this menu! It is a collection of food that is all terrible for you and terribly delicious! Great prices, good service, and the crab hushpuppies are worth the entire trip!
KENTUCKY KICK (from the Astoria whiskey society)
1.5 Bourbon (medley brothers, four roses yellow, old granddad 114)
1 oz of ginger liqueur (barrow’s, domaine de canton, King’s Ginger)
1 oz of lime juice (nelly’s key lime)
(original recipe calls for sugar cube to be dissolved, but I feel like this drink is sweet enough)
Shake and serve on the rocks.
