Huge Summer Weekend at Southern Spirits
Hey there boozefans, no less than five times a day someone will walk in here ask for a hard to find bourbon (buffalo trace, Blanton’s, Eagle Rare, Weller, Elmer T Lee) and yes even PVW! Most of the time after I say no, they do this thing where they literally spin on their heels and exit! This just baffles me, I thought I had put together one of the finest inventories known to man, I didn’t know the choice was either Blanton’s or water. Just give me a chance please. You didn’t come out of the womb drinking buffalo trace. It was not so long ago that Buffalo Trace was everywhere and was not anywhere near our top seller. Now there is scarcity and it is the cure for cancer! I get it, these are well made bourbons and the reasons for wanting them are clear and obvious, however the very sound of these whiskey’s is like nails on a chalkboard to me now. The fact is there is a temporary shortage due to the biggest spike in demand in the history of Bourbon. But guess what folks? There is still a whole wall of bourbon! Tasty, delicious, American made bourbon, and that is just the tip of the iceberg! There is also a whole lot of everything else. Man cannot live on whiskey alone, and I should know I have tried! So take advantage of this awesome staff and inventory and just ask, “what should I drink instead”? We won’t let you down.

In this corner weighing in at 25 pounds and 6 years of age is Westbrook brewing company. Small but fierce, they are located in Mt. Pleasant South Carolina, and make a tasty Belgian spiced beer and a yummy IPA, oh yeah and that Mexican Cake beer that comes out once a year and makes people nuts and call each other names. They appeared on the scene and quickly rose to the top, and with good reason. They make excellent beers and are always experimenting and exploring the various styles, while pushing the envelope. We have been a big supporter of them from the moment they were available.

JURA 16: From the tiny Island of Jura, home to two hundred people and one distillery! This is an excellent summertime Scotch because it is so light and delicate. Scores extremely high on the drinkability scale, has a touch of sweetness, and some great floral notes. The sherry cask chimes in without being overbearing. Super smooth, and a lot of fun, enjoy it while it is here.
LEADSLINGERS: This distillery has been heavily requested by you guys, so here it is. Made in Moore, Oklahoma, by combat veterans. I brought in the rum, the bourbon, and the rye.

2.5 ounces of Cachaca (ypioca, 51, novo fogo)
1 lime, cut into wedges
1 oz of simple syrup or agave nectar
Muddle the lime into the sugar, then add Cachaca and ice, serve into a tumbler or pint glass.
I like to make mine early, let it chill in the glass for thirty minutes, and then add ice and serve.
