Panthers Playoffs Parties Perfected at Southern Spirits!
Hey there booze fans, it is playoff time! Also thank goodness someone won the lottery, things were getting a little crazy here with all of those tickets. I wish it had been you that had won, but those three lucky suckers can now lead a life of luxury. If they need a guide I am totally available. Imagine having your own personal, spirits, wine, and beer guide! Oh wait you guys already have that and do not have to pay anything! I really think and hope the Panthers will defeat the Seachickens.
Cam Newton is playing at a different level right now and Minnesota really bothered Seattle with pressure up front, Carolina will also be able to apply that pressure. I know these Panthers want revenge for last years loss as well and will play there best. In booze news a bunch of awesome new stuff this week, with more on its way. Now that the Holidays are over I am devoting all of my energy to bringing in the best stuff from all over the world! I am trying to get healthy this year but fear not, I will be eating less Doritos and cheeseburgers not trying less booze. Without the promise of a new whiskey, gin, etc, then the alarm clock would just be this annoying sound stopping me from dreaming of a life in which I was trying new whiskeys, gins, etc…
TASTINGS
FRIDAY 4:00-6:00 EL MAYOR TEQUILA
A very well made tequila that sits under the radar. When I was first getting into tequila this one of my early favorites, and after you taste it you will see why.
J PINOT GRIS: A much bolder wine than its Italian counterpart but still nice and light for all of your Fish dishes.
ROBERT MONDAVI PINOT NOIR: The Mondavi family has not let Bob’s death stop them from producing wine. I wonder if after I die people will keep writing my boozeletter?
PUNTO FINAL MALBEC: So many malbecs so few good ones, Martha found a good one!
HALL CABERNET: An outstanding winery that makes Napa Cabernets that achieve the kind of flavors that set the bar for Cabernet. An excellent representation of the varietal and region.
SATURDAY 3:00-6:00 SUPER FUN TASTING
In keeping with my New Years Resolution that I made for you, here are some fun items for you to try for free!
FIDENCIO MEZCAL: Most people have never tried Mezcal or have only tried the awful cheap stuff. Smokey goodness awaits you.
SMOOTH AMBLER GIN: West Virginia Gin? Oh my my, oh hell yes! I am a big fan of this incredibly well made gin.
KUROSAWA SAKE: Yes we do sell Sake, and yes we sell good Sake. Never had a good one before? Please try this it will change your opinion for the better.
RANSON OLD TOM BARREL AGED GIN: How about a barrel aged gin from Oregon? Don’t like gin? Well this is somewhere between a gin and a whiskey. Live a little try some obscure stuff.
KEITH’S CABINET: What Keith is drinking now
Hangar 1 Kaffir Lime: Makes the best vodka tonic ever.
Junipero Gin: High Octane gin that is quite delicious. Very potent Gin and Tonics.
SAVANAH 88: Still have some of this left, snag it now. It is good Tuesday night whiskey.
Selvarey Rum: Makes a very tasty classic daiquiri, or any white rum cocktail.
NEW ARRIVALS: Throwing bulls eyes and loving it!
BLUE ICE: We needed another large size Potato vodka so here we go.
JAMES OLIVER BOURBON AND RYE: The rye got the best reviews so I of course bought the bourbon! The bourbon is very tasty and a great buy for its price. I am very excited to welcome this stuff to our collection and to mine!
CLEMENT CREOLE SHRUB: What if there was a rum based version of Grand Marnier? Yes I was excited too! You can drink this on its own but it is going to be a lot of fun playing with it over the next few weeks.
MEZAN XO: A real Jamaican rum! I could not resist so I bought this too. I mean you guys want to know right? So I pretty much had to do it. I love this stuff already. This is a whiskey drinkers rum. Reminds me of the Barbancourt 15, but a little lighter. What a lovely finish it has. Looking forward to having more tonight!
BOLS ROOT BEER SCHNAPPS: A couple of you have been asking for Root beer anything for a lonnnnnng time, and since I cannot get the Dr. MCGILLICUDDY anymore, this is the best I could do.
KILLEPITSCH: This hard to find German liqueur has been on my mind for a while now. I hope the woman who was begging me for it, is reading this and is doing some kind of wonderful dance!
BRISTOW GIN: From the folks at Cathead, comes a Juniper forward, London dry style gin, that I am very eager to taste.
PERUCCHI VERMOUTH: This was one of the world famous vermouths I was missing and I am stoked to bring it in! Right now I only have the blanco and the sweet, but the dry will be here soon. It is from Spain, and buy everyone’s account it belongs right up there at the top of the class.
HUSSONG’S REPOSADO TEQUILA: The tasty tequila that comes in the cool jug. This is the stuff from the famous eatery in Las Vegas. Now available here at Southern Spirits.
GRAN CENTENARIO ROSANGEL: So very excited to see this return! This is tequila infused with hibiscus and it is wonderful. Big big fan.
RECIPE OF THE WEEK:
KEITH’S FAVORITE MARTINI
.5 OZ OF DRY VERMOUTH (DOLIN, QUADY WHISPER DRY)
Stirred not shaken! Sorry Mr. Bond, but you were disqualified the moment the word Vodka came out of your mouth, stick to Cars, babes, and wine.
Feeling adventurous use a blanco vermouth instead of a dry!
