Pappy Van Winkle Lottery News- Are you ready Charlotte??
Everyone’s favorite scrooge is preparing for the holidays, so here’s the latest news from our very own Ebenezer, Keith Haze.
Hey booze fans, the holiday season is officially kicking off. Gift packs are arriving, decorations are being put up, unwanted family members are booking flights to come and visit you! Luckily for all of you guys, we are here and we are ready and at your service. We know what to serve wanted AND unwanted guests. We can pair with a simple or complex meal. We have cocktail suggestions galore! Panthers are 7-0! Well done. Tough one against the Packers this week. A pissed off Aaron Rodgers is not the one you want to play. I hope you guys win! Advantage of being an adult, you COULD put some delicious Copper Pecan Praline in your coffee in the morning. Disadvantage of being adult, explaining to the police officer that running with scissors, cutting off mattress tags, and drinking one day expired milk was not cutting it, in the thrills department anymore. Other disadvantages the Boss won’t let you wear your Batman costume at work and people are consistently upset when you leave the house without pants. So many rules!!!!
PAPPY VAN WINKLE NEWS (and other allocated whiskey)
1. Even hearing the words spoken aloud makes my head hurt. Much worse than saying Macbeth or Voldemort. Using this phrase “You do not have any Pappy do you?” does nothing to soften the blow.
2. The sign up will begin on Monday, November 16th. It can be done at any register. Yes, you have to come in to sign up.
3. The drawing itself will take place in early December. The date will be repeated many times in many other booze letters.
TASTINGS: FRIDAY WINE 4pm-6pm
Joseph Drouhin Macon-Villages: Have you always been curious about French wine but afraid to try them? Well Negociant, Joseph Drouhin has assembled a line of affordable Frenchies for you to put your baby toe in the water.
MONTINORE ESTATE Gewurztraminer: Hard to pronounce but fun to drink! Oregon has had some good success growing Alsace varietals. Another underrated food wine. I love pairing this grape with spicy foods. Thai food in particular has made a great match. This wine is also Organic.
IZADI RIOJA RESERVA: In my opinion, Rioja makes red wines that rival anywhere in the world. They will never have the clout of Bourdeaux, the style of Napa, or the mystique of Burgundy, but what they do have is some of the oldest vines in the world that grow in ground so dry that each cluster has to fight hard for its water, this gives the grapes more character.
HALL CABERNET: While they are neither the first name in Napa, nor the second, those in the know, are aware of how consistently well made their wines are. Classic Napa style, done well year in and year out.
KEITH’S CABINET: What Keith is drinking now.
Flight 69 gin: I swear this gin can do anything! Between the price and the quality it is just silly to buy anything else right now.
ICEBERG VODKA: Smooth and clean, just like Flight 69 it does anything you need.
CHARRED OAK BOURBON: Another great deal! You can drink this straight or it makes excellent cocktails. Enjoy this while it lasts.
Paul Beau VSOP Cognac: Everything you want in a brandy.
Awesome wines I brought back from California which are not available out here.
PIKESVILLE RYE: We only got a little of this very highly regarded rye. It just won double gold at the SF Chronicle competition, which I care about because those are blind tastings. Double gold means best in class and best in show.
EZRA BROOKS 12 SINGLE BARREL: Last time this came it did not last the day. How long will these 6 last?
NIKKA PURE MALT: From “the other” Japanese distillery, this beauty has been gone for almost a year but we just got some back in.
ADMIRAL NELSON BLACK PATCH: Admiral Nelson realized that they did not have a dark spiced rum so they made one.
