Bourbonpalooza Hits Charlotte’s Favorite Liquor Store!
The DJ of Booze, Dr. Keith “Blaze” Haze is coming at you with a little more of what you love and that is LIQUOR NEWS!
Hey booze fans, sometimes when it rains it pours, and for you bourbon lovers this is one of those times. I am sorry that I cannot get in the fifteen cases of Blanton’s it would take to make everyone happy, but at this time it just is not possible! (Love when people desperately want Blanton’s but do not actually know the name of it, blintons, Broxton, the one with the horsey on it, mister I cannot live without it, whatever it is called!)
Sorry, back to the good news, WILLET has returned in full force. Which means I have limited amounts of Noah’s Mill, Johnny Drum, and yes ROWAN’S CREEK! So there is simply no need to cry over missed bourbons because there is always more! I also got another case of the Old World Whistle Pig (which is pricey and tasty). So stop on by today, to grab some of this awesome stuff while it is here.
TASTINGS:
FRIDAY 4:00-6:30 Palmetto Whiskey and shines!
If you missed it last week, here is another chance to taste South Carolina’s newest Whiskey. Our returning champing Mian will be back in the store pouring these local goodies.
SATURDAY 2:00-5:00 El Charro Tequila!
Everyone loves El Charro and for good reason. It is the best buy in the entire store. It makes the best Margarita’s but can also be consumed straight! Affordable and delicious it is an item that I never let myself run out of.
FRIDAY WINE TASTING: 3:30-6:30
We have an affordable White Burgundy (Chardonnay), an affordable Oregon Chardonnay named Argyle, the always affordable Joel Gott Cabernet, and an affordable St. Estephe Bourdeaux. These wines range from 14-25 bucks! Come and taste all four tomorrow. Handpicked by our tremendous wine team of Martha and Ron! Who are always out there trying to find the best bargains for you guys, taste and try the fruits of their labors.
NEW ARRIVALS
Ron Atlantico Platino: Not everyone prefers dark rum, or wants dark rum all the time, so I brought it a very highly regarded white rum that is also affordable. I am looking forward to trying it.
Brugal XV: Brugal Anejo is my mixing rum, and the Gran Reserva is my super special occasion rum, well here is the one in the middle!
PRAIRIE ORGANIC VODKA: It occurred to me the other day that we only have one vodka would the word “organic” on it. So I thought I would add this one from Minnesota because it is high quality and not unreasonable. It also, comes in Cucumber which we could always use another one of. I am happy to add it to our huge wall of vodka.
TANQUERAY BLOOMSBURY: Tanqueray did not want to be left out of the craft gin movement so they dug through their records and found the original recipe from their first distillery in Bloomsbury, England. I too was disappointed the Bloomsbury was not in fact a cross between sloeberry and blueberry but such is life. Instead we have a “limited” release that is more Juniper forward than the regular Tanqueray.
RI: Not Rhode island but a top shelf rye from Jim Beam. When this first launch it was one of the very few high end ryes. Now it is back at a more affordable price but still getting good reviews.
HEDONISM: Welcome back top shelf blend from Compass Box. I will put this up against Blue Label any day! This has been gone for a while but is finally back!
BEER NEWS:
Candemonium!: In our industry there are tons of myths that are totally nonsensical. One of the biggest one’s in beer is that cans are inferior to bottles. This is simply not the case. Many brewers will strongly argue that a can maintains freshness much better than a bottle does, and freshness is a huge component of beers flavor. Summer has put together the best selection of can beers for all of your outdoor and pool parties, or just sitting at home drinking in your own tears. No matter what the occasion we have the right can for you. Join the convolution today!
Keith’s Cabinet (What Keith is drinking now)
Shady Fruit Valencia– It is simple and it mixes well with everything. I usually walk out the door with two mini bottles of it and then go home and find something to put them in.
Sierra Nevada Bigfoot: My best friend is on a barleywine kick and for me this remains the best. It is big and full but does not overstay its welcome.
Andrew Will Two Blondes: This wine is absolutely singing right now. A fantastic blend from Washington. Before you grab your next bottle of Silver Oak stop and get this gem.
Nolet’s Gin: What can I say? It is just flat out amazing. It makes other gins seem so clumsy and half-assed. These guys have been doing it for much longer and it shows!
Casa San Matias: This will defeat Patron any day of the week. Three years old, silky smooth. Love it!
Lagunitas Sucks: It is crisp, citrusy, and totally refreshing. A pleasure to have each year when it comes out.
RECIPE OF THE WEEK
3 G’S (gin, ginger and gelderflower)
1.5 OUNCES OF GIN (st. George botanivore, flight 69, blue coat, greenbrier)
1 oz of Elderflower (BERTINA, st. germain)
.5 oz of Ginger liqueur (Giffard, Domaine De Canton)
Shake with ice and strain into a martini glass. Three of my favorite things altogether makes a fourth favorite thing!
