Father’s Day Gift Guide from Southern Spirits
Keith Haze, Liquor Man Extraordinaire, is spilling what’s new in the Charlotte/Fort Mill area!
Hey booze fans, it is that time of year again, the time where we pretend (I mean demonstrate) our love for the men in our life. They are out there working hard, remember the time he washed the dishes? Of course you do because he announced it at least twice “Hey did you see I did the dishes?” “Did you put them away?” “Oh you are never satisfied!” But we love the man anyway. He is there when we need him and has an answer for everything “You will not believe what Carol said to me at work today?” “Who is Carol?” He is more than just the bearded guy that leaves the toilet seat up he is your rock. He asks for very little from anyone, so lets give him something really tasty this Fathers day. Something he would not buy for himself. Something that will make him want to say something sincere and emotional before he bottles that up just like his father taught him to.
TASTINGS: FRIDAY FINLANDIA 3:30-6:30
These guys make good vodka and do their flavors in a much drier style than many others vodka producers that fill their vodka full of goobedly gock in order to make them super sweet. These can be enjoyed with Tonic only and are very refreshing.
SATURDAY: 3:45-6:45 Jack Fire, Cruzan Coconut, Pinnacle Citrus
We think the Jack Fire is better than Fireball, come an judge for yourself. Cruzan Coconut is better than Malibu, and Pinnacle is such a great buy.
KEITH’S FATHER’S DAY GUIDE
Here at Southern Spirits we take a lot of pride in helping you find the best bottle at the price you would like to pay. We are out here tasting and discussing virtually every bottle on the shelf. It is this experience that gives us the confidence to put an awesome bottle in your hand. We are hard to please so we will not just hand you any bottle. We put everything we try to the test, compare it to all the other items in its price point. We do not “push” promo items etc. We sell Dixie because we love it, and we drink it. We sell American Prairie Reserve for the same reason. Okay enough blah blah blah here is your list.
Bourbon:
Don’t break the bank
Evan Williams Single Barrel: A very well made and underrated whiskey. I would have no trouble at all giving this to any bourbon drinker.
Medley Brothers: Another affordable gem. This one is big and bold, makes a wonderful Manhattan, and is still somewhat rare.
Lets Spend a little Extra
Hirsch: A very well made wheated bourbon that is smooth and complex.
High West American Prairie Reserve: Staff favorite, customer favorite, we have knick named it baby Blanton’s for a reason. (No we do not have any Blantons, I know that is his favorite it is mine too, and I love this and so should he!)
He is our only father after all
Old Medley: I love this 12 year old bourbon, hand selected by Charles and Sam. It is mellow and long. Once it is gone it will be gone for quite some time.
Stranahans: But it is from Colorado!! I would drink delicious whiskey from Neptune, and that is what this is. We also still have some of the reserve in stock.
Scotch:
Don’t break the bank
Glenmorangie 10: Our number one selling scotch for a reason. It is round, smooth, and friendly.
Old Pulteney 12: A hidden gem. This coastal scotch is smooth and interesting with just a touch of salt from the seaside.
Lets spend a little extra
Edradour 10: Guaranteed to put a smile on your face.
Glendronach 12: Staff favorite, we like it better than Macallan.
He is our only father after all
Glenrothes 1995: This is why people drink Scotch!
Glenmorangie 18: I call this the pretty lady. What Dad doesn’t want a pretty lady?
Springbank 12 Cask Strength: Is Papa a serious Scotch drinker, unafraid of peat and heat? Then this is an awesome bottle. Not for amateurs.
My Father has EVERYTHING ALREADY???
Ron Abuelo Centenario: Your Father doesn’t have 30 year old rum that tastes like the nectar of the gods! One of THE best bottles in the store.
Don Julio 1942: The top of the tequila mountain, and something that is incomparable to regular tequila. You simple cannot imagine how amazing this stuff in.
Yellow Spot: I got in a few more bottles of this Irish treat
Germain Robin Old Havana: Take your Hennessy Xo, Remy Xo and pour them down the drain because this will shame them all. I would love to walk into any bar in France and put this to a test and then watch them take credit anyway because the maker is still French.
This list would be endless and we sell out of any item on this list please just ask for a substitute, which we will happily provide.
BEER NEWS!!!
INNIS AND GUNN: SCOTTISH ALE!!!!
What has Keith been drinking? He has been drinking this amazing stuff. You need to try this beer now! Is is the right beer for Summertime? No but it is so *&^%^$ good that it does not matter! These are oak aged Scottish beer that are fully flavored without overstaying their welcome. Seriously this stuff has immediately jumped into my top ten. Choosing which one is the best is hard but I think it is the whiskey aged one, then the rum, then the regular. Have not tried the Pale one yet but want to. Speaking of tasting.
BEER TASTING 4-6 INNIS AND GUNN SCOTTISH ALE
Come and try Keith’s new favorite beer! Makes an excellent Fathers day gift for Beer loving Dad’s or any living human.
New Arrivals:
Michters Cask Strength Rye: This must be the year of the allocated whiskey because here comes another one. Excellent reviews on this one and I am a big fan of the regular Michters rye.
Ravenslace: Peachberry whiskey? Our newest cashier Jackie loves it, so I brought it in. Too sweet for me but so are a lot of things.
LAPHROAIG TRIPLE WOOD: It’s backkkkk! My favorite Laphroaig product. I love everything about this whisky.
GLENROTHES 2001: Snag this one quick because the supply seems very shaky! Oh yeah and because it is wonderful.
