Keith’s Liquor News for June!
Hey booze fans, the heat appears to be here to stay. Luckily a steady supply of gin and tonics, and cucumber vodka tonics are keeping my internal organs from melting. The key to any evening, is matching your food and beverage to the weather. Cold outside? Eat some stew! Hot outside? Drink some gin and tonics, eat something light. Manhattan’s in the winter and Martini’s in the Summer. Gives you something to look forward to.
BALVENIE TASTING SATURDAY 3:30-6:30
It has finally arrived! I am super excited. Superstar taster Mian will be pouring and Whiskey Ambassador Joe Ziegler will be here pontificating. I will be refereeing! Even if you don’t love Scotch why would you pass up the chance to try 400 bucks worth of free booze??? These kind of tastings are hard to book because distilleries do not feel that they justify their expense but we will once again prove them wrong. You guys always lineup for the best tastings and I am expecting that Saturday will be the same.
12 year Double Wood: Balvenie’s answer to The Macallan 12. I personally think it is the better scotch because it has a fuller body.
14yr Carribean Cask: A Rum aged Scotch? Yes please! I think that the rum adds such a lovely component. I describe this whisky as fun!!!
15yr Single Barrel: This is the latest from the distillery that never stops trying new things. This scotch spent its whole life in a Sherry cask.
17yr Double Wood: One of the smoothest, fullest, and roundest Scotches out there. This distillery has proven once again that it belongs any discussion of “the best”
NEW ARRIVALS:
GIFFARD GINGER!!!: I love everything they make, and now I have their Ginger! This will be coming to Keith’s cabinet very soon!
ARDBEG PERPETUUM: Tried this yesterday thanks to an awesome customer. It is Ardbeg’s 200th anniversary Scotch and it is wonderful.
GIFFARD STRAWBERRY: The only Strawberry liqueur that tastes like strawberry. Want to make a strawberry Margarita without the seeds or the goobedly gock of a strawberry mix!
SHADY FRUIT VODKA: Valencia Orange and Ruby Red, these are flavored with real fruit and are quite affordable. I liked them both.
BERTINA: You love St. Germain? I loved St. Germain, but then I had Bertina! From Finland, this is the best Elderflower in the world! What can I do with it Keith? Put it in your Gin and Tonic, put it in your Vodka Tonic, put it in your sparkling wine, put it in your cosmo! What can’t you do with it?????
Specialty Items: I have a few hard to find domestic whiskeys at the moment. NOT VAN WINKLE!!! Stop by and ask what they are. One is supposed to arrive tomorrow, fingers crossed!
KEITH’S CABINET: What Keith is drinking now
EFFEN CUCUMBER: Sorry we sold out last week, but it is back, and when you mix this with Fever Tree Elderflower you get one of the best Summer cocktails in the known Universe.
EL CHARRO REPOSADO: There can be only one! Want to make a wonderful Margarita but not spend a fortune? Look no further.
Kracken: I love the Kracken and Dr. Pepper Combo! Something about the spices of the Dr. Pepper and the Spices of the Dr. Pepper.
Herencia Blanco: I love this tequila! It is a Silver with a body. Fantastic stuff.
St. Bernardus Wit: The best wheat beer in the world!
BEER NEWS: CANDAMONIUM!!! Why do people have something against beer in a can? Because of ignorance! Do you think quality brewers would put something in a bad device? Brewers love cans because it maintains the freshness better. Wake up and join the canvolution! We have an incredibly large array of craft cans. When I was beer buyer I was desperate to get more quality cans in stock! Summer has once again delivered where I had failed.
