No One Does Liquor Better Than Southern Spirits
One half beard, one half legend- here’s the latest news and views from Keith Haze!
Hey there booze fans, Summer is at the door waiting to be invited in! Was anyone surprised by the Mayweather fight? This guy has been dancing away from opponents his whole career. My Chicago Cubs are still relevant in May, which is a nice change. I am enjoying the return of the sun as it makes my gin taste that much better. We continue to add the best of the best in all areas to make this THE destination. A woman walked in this morning and said “Wow you have so much more than that Other store” “Other store? Is there another store?” I teased. Don the owner walked by and joked “nope there is no other store.” I was actually bragging about how awesome you guys are to my friend who runs a store in San Francisco. I said I have worked at two other liquor stores but these are the absolutely best customers I have had. You guys come to the special tastings, try new things, ask for advice, turn US on to new items. There are so many cool items in the store that have come from your wonderful suggestions. It is a great situation. A great store with great customers, it makes my job a lot of fun.
TASTINGS: FRIDAY JACK AND FRIENDS 3:30-6:30
Have you tasted Jack Fire, Jack Honey, or Gentleman Jack? Well stop on by and give them a whirl. The only thing better than booze is free booze.
SATURDAY EL CHARRO TEQUILA 12:00-3:00
This is the best kept secret in Tequila, and we are going to spill the beans! Many of you already know and love this item, and know that it is one of the best buys in the whole store! I always have a bottle of this at my house. We all remember the dark and sad days when this was no longer available but because you all love it so much it was reactivated for the state of South Carolina because of this store!!! That is right! Power to the people!
TUESDAY MAY 12TH 3:30-6:30 SAM MEDLEY IN PERSON
Come and meet the latest in a lonnnnnng (250 years!) of distillers. Get a signed bottle and meet bourbon royalty. Sam will be here pouring his three awesome bourbons, Medley Brothers, Wathens Single Barrel, and Old Medley 12 (my current favorite bourbon, also highly allocated)
NEW ARRIVALS:
GLENFARCLAS 10: This is a lovely introductory scotch that is both affordable and tasty. A great way to explore a sherry cask finish without breaking the bank. A welcome addition from an underrated distillery! A little bit sweet and a little bit spicy.
MEZCALERO 9-12
What on earth is this stuff? These are very small batch Mezcal’s made from different distillers using different methods. Each is a completely unique expression. Not for the faint at heart these are high end Mezcal for Mezcal drinkers.
DEL MAGUEY CHICHICAPA:
This Mezcal was a customer request. Del Maguey is the first name in Mezcal and this is one of their higher end single village Mezcals. I am totally intrigued by the reviews on this that describe it as explosive, smooth, complex, sweet, and of course smokey. I am definitely going to have buy this!
HAYMAN’S SLOE GIN:
I feel like there has been two customers each week asking me to go and get a good Sloe Gin since we only have a crappy one. Well once again you have spoken and I have listened. This thing is getting great reviews. Apparently it makes a wonderful Sloe Gin Fizz, and can even be had straight!
CROWN ROYAL RYE:
Everybody has a rye now, well why not Canada? They were using rye long before it made its comeback! Still waiting on the sample bottle but I am encourage by the fact that it is 45% ABV. Brand spanking new so that is not that much on it yet.
KEITH’S CABINET: What Keith is drinking now!
High West Bourye: Birthday present booze!! Man this stuff is so goooood! It is long, it is smooth, it is full of flavor with such a tasty rye finish. And guess who just got six more cases for the store! Woohoo!! Which is great because we were sold out.
WESTLAND: Scotch from Seattle? Impossible? How about wonderful! Another birthday gift and this stuff is fantastic. Even though it drinks perfectly well straight, with just a small splash of water this thing explodes. I am really enjoying this!
THREE OLIVES CHERRY: You put this with Santa Cruz lemonade and you have a tasty summer beverage. Great afterwork drink.
GRAPEFRUIT SCULPIN!!: The glorious one is back. I love this beer so much more than a fat kid loves cake!
