What Keith’s Talking About for the Weekend!
Hey there booze fans, I am really enjoying this awesome weather. Having lived most of my life in California I am not a big fan of the cold. Although I do love drinking whisky on a cold night. Out in the crisp air with total silence. The hamsters in my brain stop running for a bit and just let the whisky work its magic. As wonderful as that is, what I love more than anything is a cold, gin and tonic on a hot day. It is beyond refreshing, and we have so many amazing gins to choose from.
Thanks to everyone who came to the whiskey’s of the world tasting, another awesome turnout! Once again without you guys showing up these tastings would not even be possible! The winner of the tasting was Glenrothes Alba! The least expensive bottle proved to be the dominating winner. Personally I thought the Japanese whisky was the best but it had some peat to it, so I understand why it lost. I was impressed with the Kavalan from Taiwan, it is becoming quite clear whiskey can now come from anywhere, and it is wonderful time to be alive.
TASTINGS:
FRIDAY MARCH 27TH 3:30-6:30 KRUPNIKAS
What’s a Krupnikas? Well it is a Polish-Lithuanian Honey Liqueur! We are launching it here with its creator!! Come and check it out. Great way to try something brand new and fun.
SATURDAY 12:00-3:00 BIRDDOG WHISKEY
Birddog has some new flavors, or if you have never heard of them, then all of their stuff is new! We will be introducing their Apple and their Chocolate! But wait whiskey fans, they make a “real” whiskey too. Lexington. We will be pouring that as well.
SATURDAY 3:45-6:45 NEW AMSTERDAM AND E&J PEACH
Our friends from Gallo are always coming up with new flavors at affordable prices. We will be sampling Coconut Vodka, Citron, and regular. E&J peach brandy will also be featured.
KEITH’S CABINET: What Keith is drinking now.
St. George Green Chile Vodka: This thing is flat out amazing. They use real vegetables, and infuse the vodka after it is made. Smells great, tastes even better.
St. George Botanivore Gin: Makes one of the best Gin and Tonics in the world!
Hirsch Small Batch: Really love the vanilla and the spice. This has been my little before bedtime treat.
KEENAN CABERNET: Everything this winery makes is awesome! But their cab is truly exceptional. It makes Silver Oak taste like Woodbridge.
Lagunitas Little Sumpin Sumpin: Few things better after a long day at work then this awesome beer!
NEW ARRIVALS:
CASA SAN MATIAS ORGULO: This is a tasty and rustic tequila from one of my favorite producers. I think of it as a whisky drinkers tequila.
CASA SAN MATIAS GRAN RESERVA: This is a tequila I have been after since the day I took over. While all hope seemed lost many times, persistence finally paid off! Aged for three years in white oak, this baby is silky smooth and I highly highly highly recommend it!
RESERVOIR RYE: This is a 100% rye whiskey from Virginia. This is a VERY small batch whiskey which is getting awesome reviews. Two employees make up the staff at the distillery so it is totally handcrafted from start to finish, and totally legit, no pre-made Indiana juice in here.
SMOOTH AMBLER GIN: I love their whiskey, and now I love their gin. This a very clean and well balanced gin that would make a wonderful martini and a straightforward and refreshing Gin and Tonic. I tried it straight and it was clean and easy to drink, with a very well balanced set of botanicals.
