All the News from Keith!
Here’s all the news from Keith this week!
Hey booze fans, man am I pumped about tomorrows tasting! It is rare for me to taste four whisky’s that I have never had before, and that I am excited about, but that is what is going to happen. Man I love my job!! And you guys are awesome, and booze is fun, and I am pretty wonderful myself. No I am not drunk! I am just feeling the vibes of Spring and am truly excited about these tastings and some new arrivals.
TASTINGS: FRIDAY THE 20TH 3:30-6:30 WHISKEYS OF THE WORLD!!!!
This is it! The steel cage death match of whisky. In this corner we have our challenger Kavlana, from Taiwan! This young upstart is cocky but determined. While Asia has exploded with a demand for Scotch some smart people thought why not make our own??? With its first bottle released in 2008, Kavalan hit the big time in 2011 when the worlds most prominent whisky critic Jim Murray gave them a 95!
Nikka Miyagikyo 12 Single Malt. This one is from the “father of Japanese whiskey” and while it is a pup compared to Scotch it is a grandfather compared to Taiwan. The foundation of this distillery is a fascinating one, with its creator having studied at several major Scottish distilleries then being hired by Suntory to make the first Japanese whiskey. After doing this for sometime he decided to open his own distillery in Hokaido because he felt the climate was closer to Scotland’s.
Finally, the reigning champ Scotland is being represented by Glenrothes, one of the best distilleries in the world. The Alba is their newest release and is meant to be smooth and mellow, (aren’t all Glenrothes that?).
So come one and come all and vote for a winner!!!
SATURDAY 12:00-3:00 DIXIE
Wait what? You still have not tried Dixie? I am personally on bottle number 57 and still loving it. Or maybe you have not had a bloody mary with the Pepper or and Irish Breakfast with the mint. Or you have had all of them but just want a refresher, or maybe you miss Mian and want to see her, because she will be pouring for us.
SATURDAY 3:30-6:30 SOCO
What is sweet, cherry flavored, and was created to help teenagers drink booze? SOCO! Take a trip down memory lane and have some Soco and try their newest flavor Caramel
NEW ARRIVALS!!! I AM SO EXCITED!!
E.H. Taylor Small Batch: Oh yes, it is not Christmas but here it comes! When I heard the news I asked the sales rep if he was kidding but he wasn’t! Snap it up while you can, because I am certain it will fly.
CHATANOOGA WHISKEY: A customer turned me on to this little gem. The regular is good, but the cask strength is great! What a great time to be alive.
St. George Vodka!: That is right! The fine folks at St. George now make awesome vodka. Regular, citrus, anddddd Green Chile!(yes its delicious). I found all three of them to be exceptional and very happy to have them on my shelf.
SAKE!!!! The sun has come out and in order to celebrate its arrival I have rearmed our Sake section with a bunch of new quality Sake. I will be having a tasting in my kitchen this evening!
KEITH’S CABINET: What Keith is drinking now.
HIRSCH SMALL BATCH: I am really enjoying this excellent bourbon. The lovely vanilla and the spicey finish have combined to make a tasty treat!
BLUE COAT GIN: This gin makes an awesome Martini!! I enjoyed every sip, made another, and then enjoyed every sip of that as well!
KEENAN CABERNET: I love everything they make but their cab is special. When I drink this wine I remember why I love red wine so much.
HERENCIA BLANCO: I truly love this tequila! It is the only silver I know that has body to it.
